Join the Merit Network
Merit Concierge places professional house sitters with discerning homeowners across Big Island. If you take your work seriously, we want to hear from you.
Not a platform. A network built on merit.
WHAT SETS MERIT APART
The standard behind every match.
Vetted homeowners
Every client is reviewed before you’re introduced. You are placed with people who respect your professionalism and have agreed to Merit’s standards.
Personal introductions
Once a potential match is identified, you’ll receive the homeowners profile first. You review it and decide if it’s the right fit for you. Only after you agree does the introduction move forward. You are never committed without your consent.
Exclusive placement
Access to private homes not listed anywhere else on the island. Merit clients are homeowners who choose personal placement over platforms.
No platform fees
Merit charges Homeowners, not sitters. The placement fee is never yours to pay. Your rates and earnings remain entirely between you and your client.

Rigorous. Personal.
Worth it.

Submit your application
Tell us about your experience, your approach to animal care, your availability, and what kinds of homes you work best in. Applying is free- no payment, no commitment.
-
A conversation, not a form
Every applicant is interviewed personally by Katelyn. This is a deliberate conversation to assess temperament, professionalism, and genuine care- not a screening call.
-
Identity, references & background check
Government issued ID, proof of address, three personal references, and a full background check through checks- including national criminal, sex offenders registry, and motor vehicle report. Required of everyone. No exceptions.
-
Katelyn makes the final call
Passing verification is not automatic acceptance. Every Merit sitter has Katelyn’s personal endorsement- in character, in reliability, and in care. You will hear from her either way.
-
When the right home finds you
When a homeowner’s needs match your profile, Katelyn reaches out to you first- privately. You’ll receive the homeowner’s profile to review before anything moves forward. Once availability is confirmed and it feels like the right fit, only then does the client receive your information.
You always have the right to decline.
1 in 3
Fewer than one in three applicants become Merit sitters.
This is not meant to discourage you- it is meant to be honest with you. Merit’s value to homeowners depends entirely on the quality of this roster. If you are accepted, it means something.
